A gas ring ticking away but never igniting, a coil blazing red whatever the dial says, or an induction zone switching itself off mid-sauté? Someone from our crew comes out to your Barrie kitchen and brings every burner back to reliable heat.
Gas, coil, smooth-top and induction cooktops share a short list of usual faults. Every card notes our first suspects.
A cracked electrode, a misplaced cap or ports blocked by spills stop the gas from lighting.
We check: spark electrode, burner cap, burner head
Mop water seeping below the burners, or a spark switch that's physically stuck on.
We check: ignition switch, spark module, wiring
A coil with an open break, a charred terminal block or a dead infinite switch cuts the heat.
We check: surface element, terminal block, infinite switch
Welded switch contacts send maximum current to the coil whatever position the knob is in.
We check: infinite switch, control knob, harness
Overheated electronics, a stalled cooling fan or cookware the zone doesn't recognize.
We check: power board, cooling fan, induction coil
Half-clogged ports, a misadjusted regulator or a choked air shutter starves the mix of oxygen.
We check: burner ports, pressure regulator, air shutter

Clicking all day and no flame on two rings. One electrode had cracked, the other was caked with grease. Both catch instantly now.
The big front coil only had one setting: scorching. He installed a new switch that afternoon and explained exactly what had failed.
The induction cooktop kept cutting out mid-meal. He found a failed cooling fan and replaced it. Haven't had a single shutdown since.
Sometimes all a cooktop needs is a cap nudged back into place or a better-suited pan. Check these points first.
Supply turned on
Flip the breaker, and on gas units make sure the wall valve handle runs parallel to the pipe.
Caps sitting flat
Lift each burner cap, wipe it and set it back evenly on the head.
Ports unblocked
When everything is cool, open blocked holes using a sewing needle.
Pan suits induction
If a magnet sticks firmly to the pan's base, it works; match its diameter to the marked circle.
